WKAD went on air in 1922 on 360 meters (833kc.) sharing time with, among others, WJAR. Owned by Charles Looff Jr., son of famous Carousel maker Charles I D Looff. The station was set up in Crescent Park (Amusement), Riverside, Rhode Island, which Charles Jr. purchased in 1920.
In 1924, WKAD shifted to 1250kc/s and operated at 20 watts.
Charles Looff, Jr. died, at age 44, on January 25, 1925 in Long Beach, CA. Without the backing of Looff, WKAD signed off the air by January 30, 1926.
