Tayor prepared for college at the Hartford High School. In High school he won the 1896 prize for the best Mathematical examination for four years
. He was also President of the debating team
. He also was on the negative side of the debate against the Hopkins Debating Club which was on the positive side. The Subject - Resplve: That the disfranchisement of the negroes in the south is unjust
. His side lost.
At Yale he obtained a High Oration appointment stand and in Freshman year he was a member of the Freshman Union, and for two years of the Yale Union. He won the Barge Mathematical Prize in Sophmore year. He was a member of the Orpheus Society, the New Haven Central Union, and of the Berkeley Association.
Taylor received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale in 1908 and a Bachelor of Science degree from MIT in 1910 and was part of The Scientific Research Society Sigam Xi
. He also received an honor in Special Studies in Physical Sciences from Yale in 1908
. He was also voted Windiest in his class
.
All totaled, Taylor received 9 degrees from colleges and universities including Yale, Harvard, Boston University, UCLA and Sorbonne in Paris.
He was married to M Edith Gilg in Pittsburg PA in 1913 and they had one daughter Sarah G
.
In 1908 he became an Assistant Engineer, Electrical Division, New York Central and Hudson River. He was a Research and Development engineer for Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company from 1910 to 1917. He then became the chief Electrical Engineer of the D & W Fuse Company in Providence, RI form 1917 to 1919. From 1919 on he became the President of the Taylor Service, Co. Providence, RI. He was a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, American Association for the Advancment of Science, and the Providence Engineering Society

. In 1931 there are two listings in two different directrories. One as Taylor-Electric Co. and also President and Treasurer of Tayloe Service Co.
and one for Taylor Service Co., Electric Service plus Taylor Electric Dervice Co. Radio Supplies.
1934 is the last time we see Taylot listed as President of Taylor-Electric Service, Co.

During WWII, Taylor served in the Marines and did research work on walkie-talkies and directional microphones.
Horace V Taylor, died December 20, 1963 after boarding a train at Union Station in Providence.
