In 1934, 18 year old Robert K Field, who worked for the Prpovidence Journal Advertising Department, spent 9 months developing a remote control plane. This accomplishment has helped Mr. Field achive honors older men have coveted in the field of aviation. He was given the National Distinguished Service Award for significant "Air accomplishment and airplane design". The award was presented to Field on May 16, 1934 at the Rhode Island Society of Model Engineers. The award was presented by a representative of the Boeing College of Aeronautics in Oakland, California.
